What Changes Would You Like To See

I was reading a blog post from a very good friend I like to follow. And he reminded me of something that I needed to do. It seems he was reviewing what has been working for him this last year. That is something we all as internet marketers no matter the niche should be doing.

He said ” Like the caterpillar that becomes a butterfly things constantly change online.”

That is such a profound but true statement. Sorry Mike, not trying to steal your thunder  but your post really hit home. I wonder how many of us actually look back to see what worked and what didn’t. And then determine what we need to do to make things better.

Maybe it means we need to drop something we thought was a good idea. And go back to the drawing board to come up with new ideas. And the things that did work, why did it work and how can we duplicate that success.

Mike, that’s Mike Paetzold, has said he has created a huge mind map to see what direction he will be following this next year. Could be something to consider doing  or something similar.

But what I really like about his post was that in all of his planning he left out one important piece. The one part of his and our business, especially mine, that is so vital to all of our success. YOU!

So, again taking a line from his post, as I move forward this next year what changes would you like to see made here.

4 “Don’ts” Of Niche Marketing

While there are many things you can do right with your niche marketing business, there are also many things you will want to avoid doing wrong.

Here are some classic “don’ts” of niche marketing that you should avoid:

Don’t #1:    Don’t act without thinking.
Make sure not to invest time, money or other resources until you fully understand your niche, have a plan in place and know what it will take to go after it successfully.

Don’t #2:    Don’t wait too long!
Once you decide on which niche to go after, and have taken the proper time and course of action to ensure it is a good one (namely profitable) then go for it! You don’t want to wait too long only to have someone else beat you to the punch.

Don’t #3:    Don’t limit your opportunities.
You can sell your products online, but you can also use good, old-fashioned word of mouth. Tell everyone you meet and know about who you are, what you do and how you can help them.

Don’t #4:     Don’t listen to naysayers!
There will always be critics and those who bring negativity to the table. But don’t let them rain on your niche marketing parade! Be confident in the work you have done to ensure this is a good idea, that this will work and that you do know what you are talking about!

Just like with anything else, you will want to avoid potential downfalls with your business. That being said, bring your common sense to the table and you will have a good chance at success. Remember, choose a niche that you enjoy, are knowledgeable in and can fulfill a need for. If you do, the rest will fall into place.

Choosing That Affiliate Product

Ever wonder about how to decide what is the best affiliate product to promote? The first thing you might want to do is choose your niche and that will assist you in picking the products for you to promote.

Then you can go with a subject that has a multitude of affiliate products that they offer. That way, if you happen to pick one that is not a big seller, you can pick another product and give that a try.

(After you have found the right niche, you can then find the one product which you would like to start promoting. A really efficient and popular way to do this is to go to Google and find out which products are being promoted with paid advertising (PPC – pay per click).

Try to find the ones that are being sold by affiliates. That can be very important. If you can determine that it is the product creator who is promoting it, they maybe they are making money on the back end and are losing money on the front end. With most affiliates, you usually only make money on the front end, meaning the back end is not as important to you.

On the other hand, if it is the affiliate that is promoting the product, you can probably see that they are only making money on the front end. It could be then, that it is quite lucrative for them to be spending money on advertisement.

Search and find the products that keep coming up again and again. For example, if you find that there is one program that is being promoted for all of the main keywords in your niche, that could be a better option than something that is there for only one.

How should you test it?

After you have chosen between three to five products using the above criteria, you have to find out how well they will convert. That way you can have some idea of their moneymaking potential.

One of the first things you could do is put up a quick pay-per-click campaign. Be sure to set a limited budget and then test those three to five products with the same keywords, getting the same number of clicks to each. Once you see which one performs better, then that can be the one you promote.

In reality there really is only so much you can tell from reading the sales page. There could be one product that might seem like it has convincing sales copy, but the only real way to find out for sure is to test it yourself.

Choose something you believe in.

You would think it would be obvious but it is still worth mentioning. Remember – you will probably be writing a review for this product and also putting a lot of time into promoting it. It would only make it that much harder to be putting in a lot of effort into product you do not believe in.

The bottom line is that testing is extremely important. That is because you will usually find that the best converting affiliate products are usually the ones you would have never guessed on your own.

Discovering what is being promoted on pay-per-click is one of the best ways for finding an idea about what is converting before you actually jump into it yourself. That way you can avoid wasting a lot of your time as you try to find your next product to promote.
